So I have been nominated to write yesterday's blog though I wasn't around with them for some of the time. One group chose to go back to Montmartre to buy artwork. Apparently Katie Oakes is quite good at haggling as those people who did buy artwork got it for cheaper than the advertised price! The other group (whom I was with) chose to go see some other sites. We walked around Notre Dame Cathedral, saw Sainte Chappelle (all stained glass windows), then took the metro to Rue du Bac to see the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception which houses 2 well-preserved (and not decayed) bodies. We were there while they were saying the rosary, so some of us chose to return to the apartment to prepare for a trip to the Eiffel Tower. The others took photos which will be posted at the end of this. Freddy, my German housemate who is with us, volunteered to take those who wished to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower via stairs. It was cheaper (by 7 E almost!) to take the stairs to the 2nd floor rather than the elevator. We went at sunset so they could get sunset photos & those of us who did not want to climb the steps could watch the Tower light up from the Palais de Chaillot. It was SO incredibly cold! We then took the metro back to the apartment. Some of us wandered off to find dinner; others purchased food from a grocery. We had a typical French meal - soupe a l'ognion ou une salade, tagliatelle du saumon, poulet roti, ou beouf bourgonne, et dessert - dames aux rouges, creme caramel, ou sorbet. (Sorry for the French; have fun translating!) We got back pretty late (11:45) and everyone had to be up early in the morning to go to Normandy.
Here are some photos from yesterday.
