Day 4: cold day

Today after waking up at the lovely time of 5:45 AM we were out the door by 6:30 to walk in the FREEZING, DARK, and MISERABLELY COLD weather. After enduring a LONG walk to the travel agency to get on a very beutiful double- decker coach....or atleast thats what we thought.....After we waited for mrs. Bartlett to get our tickets from the agency she handed them to us and we happily loaded the bus for a total of 10 mins before being so kindly told to ... GET OFF!! evidently greyline tours is not the greatest with confirmation numbers. After the disappointment of losing 2 hours of sleep we walked ourself to the nearest cafe where we enjoyed the warmth and food. We chose to use our hop on hop off bus tickets today since we couldn't take out trip to Normandy Beach. (Katie B & Freddy were able to go on the tour since we had to reschedule for Thursday & Katie already had plans for that evening with some Welsh friends.) Mrs. Bartlett walked us towards the Louvre where we took some pictures of the beautiful pyramids in front of the CLOSED Louvre. After standing out of the wind as long as possible we went to wait for our bus which we thought was coming at 9 until a very kind lady told us it came at 9:30 instead. As we waited near the COLD, FREEZING, PAINFUL bus stop. guess just go ahead and guess what time our bus came at did it come at 9:15? NO did it come at 9:30? NO WAY!!! did it come at 9:45? OF COURSE NOT THESE ARE THE FRENCH!!! did it come at 10? YES THANK GOODNESS!!!by the time it finally came and we had watched nearly EVERY OTHER color of bus and size go by we couldnt feel our hands/ toes. Jordyn and Katie Oakes had the wonderufl idea that beaches implied flip flops( we were WRONG!!) we had also been in such a rush that we had forgotten our jackets. Mrs. Bartlett taught us all how to stay warm, she wasn't a girl scout she was a mom :) After enjoying the green loop on our hop on hop off bus and the wonderful historical commentary ( IN ENGLISH!!!) We stopped at the main office of the tour company and were remindd of our love for greyline tours and their less than adequate booking skills. Mrs. Bartlett took us to an overwhelmingly large department store called Gallerie La Fayette. After we all used the coed bathrooms ( odd we know) we went our separate ways and began tackling the monster of a store. Madeline bought herself a gorgeous Louis Vuitton purse. Ryan purchased an adorable lime green Lacoste shirt. Zach purchased 3 absolutely amazing magnets. Katie purchased a ravishing tie for her father. Jordyn purchased an astoundingly lovely souvenir shirt( it was black ) After going to a bank to allow people to exchange their monry Madeline explained that they told her she needed an American Express to exchange hers so we unknowingly deceided to walk AROUND the LONG way to the american express. Mrs. Bartlett than deceided to make our days by aloting more shopping time for the 5 of us who had not dropped from our shopping just yet. She explained the metro route and informed us to be back at 5:30 ( we were back 30 minutes early i might add ). However upon ariving to our apartment we quickly realized that mrs. bartlett who ws supposed to be waiting for us was NOT so christina heard us after ten minutes and let us in. Then we realized that mrs. bartlett and jenna McCarty had gone shopping and taken the key. So we hung around playing cards and discussing our fun day until Katie B and her "husband" (a lady on the bus to Normandy asked assumed Katie & Freddy were married) returned from their day trip. Then we bundled up and weathered the cold to enjoy a cruise on the Seine. we would just like to tell you it was COLD COLD COLD!!!! However because they are french they did not time it so that we could photograph the sparkling tower because i mean come on that makes sense. We got great pictures and came back to the apartment and enjoyed hot chocolate and then got a good night sleep :)

Oh my gosh, what a day you guys had!! Will you ever warm up? Are you going to attempt to go back to the beaches?
Ironically, I had blogged you all earlier and had asked how the weather was. I have now been informed. So, no need to respond.
Zachary, Emily wants you to buy her something from France.
Stay warm,
Gayle

Dear All,
Why were Greg and I not surprised when you said Jena was out shopping??? By now those of you who did not know JB well know that it is not possible for JB to shops til she drops, it just won't happen. Hope tomorrow goes more as planned. Spontaneous adventures make some of the best memories though.
Miss you,
Leah and Greg(mom and dad)and Bubba too

The Mess-Inq reported today that the boys are in the winner's bracket in their tournment but the girls have lost two in a row, no mention of emily mc or elizabeth f. Billy Donovan is still claiming UK hasn't talked to him.
